October to March offers clear skies and comfortable temperatures. June to September brings the full monsoon - dramatic waterfalls and lush greenery, but heavier rain. The cave is accessible year-round.
Mawmluh is located near Sohra (Cherrapunji), approximately 54 km south of Shillong. The nearest airport is Shillong (Umroi). Shared taxis and private cabs run from Shillong to Sohra regularly.
Children above 10 can participate in guided cave tours with adult supervision. The terrain inside includes wet rocks and narrow passages, so moderate fitness is advised. Shorter family-friendly routes are available.
Sturdy shoes with grip, rain gear, a headlamp or torch, and layers for cool cave temperatures (~15-18 C). For monsoon visits, waterproof bags for electronics are essential.
